My Granddaughter, Model Railroading (both HO and N-scale), Reading, Photography, Learning "New" things, Movies, Ethnic Festivals, and working with my computers - I have two, one that I bought back in 1996, and one that I built from scratch in December 2000. My interests are not necessarily listed in any particular order or priority, since my interests and priorities change from day to day.
Reading, some of my favorite authors are; Robert Ludlum, Clive Cussler, Tom Clancy, Andre Norton, Jean Auel, Gordon R. Dickson, Jack Higgins and Michael Crichton. The past several years, I've followed the adventures of both Clive Cussler and Robert Ludlum's heroes as they plunge headlong from one intriguing and perilous situation to another.
By a strange quirk of happenstance, I borrowed a paperback from a friend to take along on my plane trip to my Daughter's wedding in June "99. The title was "The Mammoth Hunters" by Jean Auel, and is the third book in her series entitled "Earth's Children." Never thought I'd get hooked on a continuing series by the same author, let alone a series where the main character is a heroine. Whereas most authors publish perhaps several novels each year, Ms. Auel adds a new book to her series once every two and a half to three years. Due to the setting and time period for "Earth's Children", it requires an extensive and exhaustive amount of field research on her part. An excellent series, well written, providing an insight into man's early life on the planet. I would strongly recommend this series to anyone interested in learning more about the Neanderthal and Cro-Magnon species. By the way, although Ms. Auel's characters are fictional, the background setting and details are well researched and highly accurate.

As they say, "Music soothes the savage beast " I definitely believe that a world without music would be a very sad and joyless place indeed. For myself, I enjoy a wide variety of styles ranging from New Age to Country, light Jazz to Pop, and sometimes even a little Classical music. Favorite artists include; Yanni, David Arkenstone, Chris Spheeris, Wynona, Reba, Garth Brooks, Brooks & Dunn, Marc Antoine, Celine Dion, and Enya. Movie sound tracks are another music area that I really enjoy. Several composers are at the forefront of my list when it comes to soundtracks, these include; Jerry Goldsmith, James Horner, John Williams, and Hans Zimmer.
Guess you might call me a movie buff, as in like dyed in the wool aficionado of really "good, interesting, well made motion pictures." Way back when, going to the Saturday afternoon matinee only cost 25 cents, I more or less grew up spending time at the local neighborhood movie theater. This love of motion pictures carried over into my adult life, and is a subject I could expound on at some length. Needless to say, I won't.... Oh yes, you're possibly wondering what my Favorite Movie is ? Well, I can't name just one... Like the American Film Institute's list of the top 100 American films of all time, I would have to give some thought to creating my own list of the major motion pictures that have impacted my life. So, be content in knowing that may of theirs are more than likely on my list.
