Where Do "We The People" stand today ?? |

The following is my personal viewpoint on where I perceive this country currently is, and what I believe needs to be done to correct the outrageous fiasco that presently exists not only in Washington DC but also in various other places around this Once Great nation.
During my adult lifetime, I've watched the "Winds of Political Change" shift more often than I care to think about or recount. From my perspective, this country reminds me of the square-rigged, wooden warship "Old Ironsides" that is becalmed on a Sargasso Sea. The slightest breeze from any of the four directions inevitably sets the vessel off on a new and different course, one that's opposite it's original compass heading and perhaps far more treacherous.
In a recent conversation with a friend, the subject got around to border security, illegal aliens, Arizona's new law, Obama and the Economy, as well as the political unrest that's growing in this country due to the public's ire with the current Administration and the Politicians in Washington DC.
At one point my friend asked if I knew the surest way to destroy a country. Giving his question careful thought, I finally answered "Terrorism, from both internal and external groups!" He said "NO!" The surest way is to Destroy the Country's Economy!
Since taking office, President Obama and Congress have done nothing but Spend, Spend, Spend! The Wall Street bailout, the Economic Stimulus Package, the Auto Industry loan subsidy, Aid to Foreign Countries, and now probably massive $$$$ for the Gulf Oil Spill Cleanup. America's Deficit now stands at around $13+ Trillion Dollars and growing by the minute.

In 2007, Missouri placed on the ballot a proposed constitutional amendment designating English as the Official language of Missouri. Nearly 90% voting in favor! English became the official language for ALL governmental proceedings in Missouri. It also means no individual has the right to demand government services in a language OTHER than English.
In 2008 a measure was passed that requires our Highway Patrol and other law enforcement officials to verify the immigration status of any person arrested, and inform federal authorities if the person is found to be here illegally. It allows Missouri law enforcement offices to receive training to enforce federal immigration laws. The bill makes it clear that illegal immigrants will NOT have access to taxpayers benefits such as food stamps and health care through Missouri HealthNET.
In 2009 a measure was passed that ensures Missouri 's public institutions of higher education Do NOT award financial aid to individuals who are here illegally. The law also requires all post-secondary institutions of higher education to annually certify to the Missouri Dept. of Higher Education that they have NOT knowingly awarded financial aid to students who are unlawfully present in the United States.
So while Arizona has made national news for its new law, it is important to remember Missouri has been proactive in addressing this growing problem.
Missouri has sent a clear message that illegal immigrants are NOT welcome in our state and they are certainly NOT welcome to receive public benefits at the cost of Missouri taxpayers!

I was reviewing the Waters World e-mail you sent and accidentally ran across your piece. I have to tell you that I am very impressed; it is very well written (structure is great too). I believe you are 'on-the-money' for most of the current issues.
Rest assured that 'others' are just as bothered as you are. I for one am with you. I AM FOR "HOPE & CHANGE"; don't be shocked...most people that voted for Obama are for HIS version of Hope & Change (because they drank the BHO Kool-Aid). I DID NOT!!!
My version of Hope & Change is to 1) Change = to vote in representatives of "We-The-People" in the Fall of 2010 and 2) Hope = the newly elected representatives will REPEAL everything Obama has done to this country and that the "anointed-one" enjoys his one (and only) term as President..
