"Something Has Gone Terribly, Terribly Wrong!"

Dear Patriots,

A quick story. A friend has a daughter who teaches in a local public school. The day before an important test, the teacher reminded the students to bring a pencil to school for the big test. On the day of the test, only two children brought a pencil. The teacher stopped dead in her tracks and asked every child in the classroom to hold up in the air their cell phone if they had one in their possession. EVERY SINGLE child held up a cell phone. They remembered to bring their cell phone, but couldn't remember to bring a pencil. Trivial story, perhaps, but I believe it is a classic representation that something has gone terribly, terribly wrong.

We are surrounded by a sea of irresponsibility. In the past, being irresponsible usually was accompanied by appropriate negative consequences. If you showed up at school without your homework, you were disciplined and held accountable. Today, the parents show up at school and defend the child because the "teacher's instructions weren't clear." If you got bad grades, it used to be YOUR fault because you didn't study and/or work hard enough. Today, parents defend the child and blame the teachers or the school. If you got pregnant while still in high school, there were no in-school day-care centers and you most certainly were not applauded.

Today, they treat you like a hero and, if you qualify, you get free baby formula, free pre-natal care, all your medical bills paid and a check from the government to help you raise your child. If you did drugs and were so stoned that you couldn't hold down a job, you were fired. Today, they say you have a disability and you might qualify for taxpayer provided disability checks. If you bought a house that you knew you could not afford, you eventually lost the house. Today, the government says you are a victim and seeks ways to re-negotiate your mortgage for you. If you were on welfare or public assistance, you used to be embarrassed and worked feverishly to get off the public dole and back to a life of self-reliance. Today, welfare recipients wear it like a badge of honor and clamor on television to get back into THEIR public housing complexes. They want MORE and don't you dare ask what they plan to give to their country in return. Because, of course, to ask such a question, you are either a racist, heartless bastard or a raving lunatic. Drug testing for welfare recipients? Have you lost your mind? It's their RIGHT to receive your charity and live the life THEY choose.

If you remained in school to obtain a higher level of education and then worked extra hard to achieve a certain level of financial success, you were respected and admired for your efforts and permitted to reap the fruits of your labor. Today, the same person is told he/she is selfish, greedy and doesn't pay his/her "fair share" of taxes.

If you came into this country illegally and were caught, your ass was jailed and then promptly shipped back to your home. Today, people in this country illegally tell us THEY have rights and we can't do anything to enforce our own laws. The President of another country takes the floor of OUR Congress and tells one of OUR states it can't enforce the laws.............and some members of OUR Congress have the audacity to give a standing ovation to this man!!! What's wrong with THAT picture?

If your company had more expenses than revenue, it went bankrupt and some other entrepreneur benefited from your absence in the marketplace. The world moved on. Today, some companies (especially those connected to the politically powerful) are deemed "too big to fail," taxpayers provide money to prop up these companies, who then promptly reward their top executives with bonuses. And taxpayers never see a dime of the money they loaned.

This country used to be a manufacturing juggernaut. Today, it's practically impossible not to purchase something "made in China ." What does this country produce anymore? Answer: debt. Two days ago, the national debt clock reached $13 trillion. Since the beginning of modern civilization, spending more money than you have and/or borrowing more money than you were capable of paying back is immoral and treated with harsh consequences. Today, we treat it as "business as usual." This debt exists for one primary reason... our government has been and is still engaged in "social justice" policies. Take away from those who earn and give away to those who don't. This house of cards is about to come crashing down and I fear it's not going to be pretty. Remember the chaos in the streets following Katrina ? Multiply that exponentially.

What in the hell has happened?

We can blame Ford, Carter , Reagan , H.W. Bush , Clinton , W. Bush , and Obama. Or we can blame ourselves. Truth be told, this country has been living the good life for too many years on money that was not earned. It is money that was "borrowed" and printed out of thin air. Our standard of living is on the precipice of taking a significant deviation. Barack Obama and a Democratically-controlled Congress have done NOTHING to alter this dangerous path and I say with conviction they have only accelerated the path to destruction. In spite of pouring billions of dollars into the economy, there is no private sector job creation. Why? Because everyone recognizes Obama exactly for what he is: an unabashedly, wealth-redistribution, socialistic demagogue. Why would any business owner with common sense want to add employees, expand his business, increase his stress and liability if, in the end, the government will simply confiscate more of what he earns? Not to mention Obama's desire to allow the Bush tax cuts to expire at the end of 2010, increase the capital gains tax, eliminate the deductions for mortgage interest and charitable contributions, increase the Medicare tax, and on and on and on.

I've said it until I can barely say it anymore. Irresponsible behavior is being rewarded (illegal immigration being a prime example) and responsible behavior is being punished. It's a pathetic way to run a country and it is exactly why there is so much anger brewing.

63% of Americans now say they want the health care legislation repealed. Obama won't hear of it. It will take a complete upheaval of the balance of power in Congress and a conservative President to make that happen. 69% of Arizona residents approve of the illegal immigration law that mirrors the federal law. Obama's people say the law is unconstitutional and has the potential to lead to racial profiling. So, Mr. President, when exactly is it ok to actually determine it is illegal to be here illegally?

60% of Americans agree that the cap-and-trade legislation is unnecessary and unwanted. Obama pushes forward, hoping to pass it before the end of this year. 60% of Americans believe if you run your company into the ground, the taxpayers should NOT have to bail your company out. Yet, the financial reform legislation allows the government to do just that, at it's discretion, on OUR nickel.

The President promised to use the Cambridge police arrest of his Harvard professor friend as a "teachable moment" and to have a public discussion on race relations. Crickets chirping. Either a hard rain is coming or a political upheaval is in order. YOU have to decide. You either delete this e-mail and continue to live as if nothing will happen. OR, you modify it as you wish and send it to the people with whom you have an open forum to discuss these issues. Is getting this country back in the hands of responsible people worth fighting for? I most certainly think so, or else I would not have sent you my 100th Tea Party e-mail.

God bless the great veterans who have served and currently serve this country. If God be willing, we will save that which you all fought, and some died, to provide for us.
